Love of Literacy & Learning

Love of Literacy & Learning!

Just because school is out, doesn’t mean that reading has to end! What’s your favorite book? Foster a Love of Literacy & Learning this summer and make sure to stay tuned for resources, information, and fun reading challenges!

Summer learning loss during elementary school accounts for two-thirds of the achievement gap in reading between low-income children and their middle-income peers by ninth grade. Let imaginations run wild in books this summer. Under a tree, in a makeshift tent, or at the local library, dive into a literary adventure.

Scholastic Summer Reading

We know summertime can provide tremendous opportunities for kids to accelerate reading, to experience the social-emotional impact of good literature and stories, and to make up for any lost learning time as access to instruction and reading has had to be completely rethought due to the pandemic. Research has proven that in a typical year, summer reading supports skill gains, and its absence leads to widening skill gaps. With this in mind, our Scholastic Summer Reading Promise is to help you get books in the hands of kids, support social-emotional well-being, build skills and create community among kids.

Camp BOOK IT!

Parents, join us for Camp BOOK IT! and keep rewarding your kids all summer long. Track and reward your kids' reading for June, July and August in our digital dashboard. When they meet their monthly reading goal, they'll receive a free one-topping Personal Pan Pizza® from Pizza Hut! We'll also share fun activities and book recommendations each week to keep the fun going throughout the summer! Enroll today!
